FLEXIBILITY OF USAGE

Dangelong Basalt is sought after by stonemasons as it has good yield and is great rock to work with for both horizontal and vertical surfaces.

DANGELONG BASALT is a blue edge stone with brown or buff face. The rock is ideal for freestanding and structural walls, random paving (or crazy paving), retaining walls and steps. Individual rocks can also be selected as striking garden features.

CONVENIENT ACCESS

The Dangelong quarry is conveniently located with good road access only 10km off the Monaro Highway between Cooma & Nimmitabel, an easy drive to Canberra, the Monaro, Snowy Mountains and the South Coast.

HIGH QUALITY

Dangelong Basalt is also known as bluestone or phorphry. It has been used on many large projects in both Canberra and the Snowy Mountains including the NPWS Headquarters in Jindabyne, the Kingston Foreshore development, Banjo’s Hotel in Jindabyne and many residential gardens and structures in Canberra and the South Coast.

HISTORY

The quarry at Dangelong has a long history with the original excavation being carried out in the late 1850s sourcing rock for a local homestead. The current operation has been running since 1997 and has approval from Cooma Monaro Shire Council to extract up to 5000t per year.
